So I saw this on someone else's blog and I thought it was a good idea.
Post purpose: Feedback! I'd really appreciate some honest (constructive) critiques/comments/suggestions regarding my stories. I write a lot, as you should know by now, and I've done fic for ten years now. It's painfully obvious to me which stories I wrote in my early years. Even two years ago I'll cringe at some things. So I know there will always be issues and things I can improve.

My first Mentalist vid! :O
Natalie Merchant's "My Skin" is a gorgeous, haunting song that's been on my mind for well over a year. When I started vidding again last week (thanks to a challenge on scifiland), I started thinking about what I might do for a Mentalist vid. After all, I have a program to transfer my dvd files at the moment and I have the lovely boxset so...
Initially it was going to be a "pure" Jane video but then I managed to track down some good scenes with Cho and Jane so I have some not-so-subtle hints for my OTP. ;) There did end up being someone of a story thread for the vid, but you may interpret it as you will.

More "tech-y" notes: Made in Windows Live Movie Maker. This is a very simplified program with minimal editing capabilities. Also, the timeline is not numerically marked so it's difficult to go back into the middle to edit without screwing the rest of it up. :\ Basically this means that I work from beginning to end, doing my best with each section before going onto the next. The only real problem I have with this vid is the quick cut from Jane to Cho during the lyrics "the sweetness." Darn. I didn't notice it early enough to inspire me to futz around and fix it.

Last year I almost let this day pass me by. This year I feel quite aware of the date - 11 September, 2010.
Nine years ago today I was in health class. Maybe fifteen or so minutes into it, one of my classmates came in late, she said that she heard on the radio that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. People were confused, most of us decided to brush it off as something she misheard.
We got out of class and found everyone gathering in the common area for a special announcement. Our headmaster told us about what had happened - how a plane had been crashed into one of the two towers... The radio broadcasted through the PA to the common room all day. The library and a few of our classrooms had TVs set up.
It's said that you'll remember where you were when historically significant events happen. Yeah, it's true.
So I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the date, say a few brief words, take a moment of silence. I may not agree with how the events that followed were handled, but I am proud to call myself American, to have the freedom to form my own choices, and I am thankful to be here today.
My condolences to everyone who lost someone on that day. For the men and women who have been deployed and are fighting overseas, my prayers are with you and your families and I continue to hope you will come home soon.

Got to hitch a ride with my friend to Iowa for the weekend. Staying with a couple friend 'til tomorrow morning and it's been fun. I'm getting terribly nostalgic for my undergrad years and all my friends (and students), though. :p
caseland is now officially opened! :D I'm really excited about this and I hope there will be minimal problems, lots of maintained interest, and good participation. :3 There's some great people I know who have joined the effort *hugs friends* plus some awesome newbies. I'm trying hard to set up a schedule for myself, get ahead of the game before my classes start again in about a week.
Um... lemme see, anything else? Not for now, I don't think. :p ♥ ♥s to you all.

I swear that I went into Best Buy with intentions to get the audio cable I need to hook up my laptop to the TV & to get The Mentalist S1 (which BB is selling for $20! Cheapest anywhere!) That was it. But then I got distracted by the pretty price tags with good deals - like Ghostbusters for $5 (that's what I'd pay at Half Price Books and here I could get it new); Chip'n'Dale Rescue Rangers vol. 1 for $15 (this has been on my wishlist for years) and then there was a triple feature Ferngully/Ice Age/Robots for $13 - which I bought solely for Ferngully.
So yeah, Between yesterday's purchase of two season of JAG at Target and today's run, I have four more boxsets to add to my collection. lol *facepalm*
In other news, I'm back in Minnesota though I suddenly got offered the opportunity to hitch a ride with my friend to/from Iowa so I'll be doing a weekend visit to some folks.

The short of it: I watch/have watched a lot of crime/police-procedural shows and there are so many not covered by other land comms.
What I'd like to do is start a land comm that will include police procedurals and similar crime shows. (Additional shows would be included, like JAG, which should probably be in there.)
What I need:
- Interest? Would you join a comm like this? Examples of shows: Rizzoli & Isles, The Mentalist, The Closer, Memphis Beat, Homicide: Life on the Streets, CSI series, Law & Order series, White Collar, & more.
- Is there anyone willing to do co-modding or team leadership?

I meant, beta call! Yup. I need a beta/pre-reader or however you want to view the task. I'd love some editing help if you can, if not, that's okay. I really need someone to take a look at Mentalist fic(s) before I do any posting. There are two!
Both are Cho/Jane
(1) "Harvest Moon," 1,805 words, warnings: angsty, set post season 2 so epic spoilers for finale. I'm pretty happy with this so probably it won't take too much work to read through, help find any mistakes or things that make you go "whaaa?" (Note: C/J is more of a background thing here, an element in the emotional turmoil Jane's facing.)
(2) [file name: "property damage and cuffs"] LMAO, IDEK about the file name. ANYWAY
- 3700+ words (still writing wrap-up)
- Warnings: Turns to smut :p Very light bondage (sex involves a tie, hahaha) and two fic tropes shamelessly used.
- Definitely need an eye on transitions in addition to the usual "is this believable? What just happened There? etc."

Day 12 - An episode you've watched more than 5 times
This question is... I dunno, just kind of funny to me because there's so many things that I've watched more than five times. From the top of my head I know:
Stargate SG-1: Urgo, Double Jeopardy, Lifeboat
The Dead Zone: Here There Be Monsters, Zion, Shadows
Firefly: Basically every episode
Chip'n'Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Talespin: Most of the series
And I know I've seen at least a handful of X-Files episodes a number of times but I can't come up with titles easily. :p
Day 13 - Favorite childhood show
Do I have to pick one? Well, actually that's not too hard. Top of my list is Chip'n'Dale Rescue Rangers, hands down. I LOVE THIS SHOW! Why do I not own this show yet?
Also, Darkwing Duck (which I do own ♥) - seeing as my mom laughs as she reminds me that I would get out of the bath with my towel wrapped around me and then say "I am the terror who flaps in the night... I am DARKWING DUCK!" *facepalm*
